Cold blossom

I'd given up on the flowers of witch hazel.  Some appeared in December - much earlier than usual.  They didn't last and I though that was that and all I shuold do is wait for next year.  Then the cold and snow hit and the flowers (which were never really strong) withered.  The cold and all that came with it has now receded and I noticed witch hazel dripping with small flowers apart from a couple of branches which went with their flowers early.  So maybe it needed that cold spell before it would blossom fully.  Lovely at the moment and it will get better.  It is a favourite and might be blipped again!
