Cocktails
Last night I watched a talk by Tony Worobiec on seascapes entitled The Water's Edge, which is the name of his new book. He is a brilliant landscape photographer, highly accomplished and considered one of the best, and is also a very good speaker so it was an interesting talk. Gavin watched with me and we both found his work was inspiring, and lovely to see familiar places along the British coastline.
The only problem with most of these zoom talks/webinars/meetings is that they start at 7.30pm which is such a rubbish time, as that is supper time for us. Beforehand I am busy making the dinner, and then the talks start and they are always 2 hours long. Luckily our camera club meetings are at 8pm so I get a chance to eat beforehand, and we have brought forward our camera group meetings to 6.30pm so we can eat afterwards.
Tonight Gavin has a cocktail making session on zoom which is a work event - everyone is feeling lockdown fatigue, they are working much longer hours than usual, and missing the social contact. His company is usually very social with so many after work activities, sports events etc that this cocktail making activity is being done to cheer everyone up. This morning all the ingredients needed were delivered, and all the contents that were in the box can be seen here - they thought of everything - straws, a shaker, tiny umbrellas to decorate the drinks, plus the spices - the only thing you have to provide yourself is ice. I am meant to be doing it with Gavin but I probably will let him make them and then have a taste. I wonder what the effect of 'zombie mix' is?!
I booked tickets to the Chelsea Flower Show this morning. This year it is being held at the end of September instead of the usual time during May. I wonder if it will go ahead. By then the most of the adult population should be vaccinated so hopefully life will be getting back to 'normal'.
A rainy morning turned into a lovely sunny afternoon - Gavin needed to get out so has taken Xena for another (short) walk.
