Sheep have been everywhere leaving tufts of wool on bushes and briars.

This particular assemblage reminded me of the  ectoplasm said emanate from  a medium during Victorian seances, a whitish substance  that could take different shapes and forms (and subsequently found to be faked.) 
Looking at the image I fancy I can see the image forming of a headless, front-facing sheep.....

More prosaically the extra is a good example of a gravimorphogenetic response in a bracket fungus. I've moved it but the original fungus grew on a vertical tree trunk in the normal horizontal plane, but when the tree fell over and lay on the ground the fungus responded by producing new growth relative to its new angle to the ground.


Which suggests that truth is just as, if not stranger than, the imagination..
