Flannel Flowers
I got a tip last night that there are pink flannel flowers on Narrow Neck so I contacted trisharooni and we set off this morning to find them.
Unlike the larger white flannel flowers which are commoner, the smaller pink ones are known as bushfire ephemerals and lie dormant for years, only germinating after bushfire followed by rain. Apparently it is the smoke rather than actual fire that triggers the germination.
Narrow Neck was the site of the severe bushfires a year ago and we have had lots of rain since. This is our reward.
As they are a rare sight, I have included several extras.
