Rivers Trail
Birdtracks on snow read
like icy hieroglyphics.
The message is wild.

It was 3 C with a cold wind off the Thompson River this afternoon. I didn't walk very far on the Rivers Trail. It was really nice to have some sun and warmer temperatures to melt the snow.
A pair of mallards entertained me. They waddled along the Rivers Trail ahead of me. As I got closer they stood on the ledge as if to jump off. Instead, they launched into the air with a great deal of indignant quacking.
On the river below were lots of bird tracks. Each is a message of their movements since the last snowfall.
