Blue Tit (Cyanistes caeruleus)
The number of birds coming to the feeders has shown an increase recently. Before we set off to the Lodge I was recording the numbers for my BTO Garden Birdwatch. Having the camera lying beside me the temptation to make today's blip was great. So I took a few shots of this Blue Tit.
Going by the colours this is probably a male, as the colours seemed bright which is about the only visible (to a human) sign of sexual dimorphism. Interestingly they see ultraviolet light as well as the visible spectrum so the blues really stand out to other birds.
