My View from Here

Light Snow on Swings

It has been snowing for days, and for the first time, I understand that cold does not have to equal misery. We live by a school. Every afternoon, the kids cross our street to play in the park. I often watch them from my writing desk as the crossing guards stop traffic with their neon vests and "slow" signs. In the park, even when its 17 degrees outside, the kids run about with their hoods over their heads, playing. Their jackets are the only bright things I've seen all winter.
