Iris

Had a good day volunteer gardening at The Moat, digging out thorny scrub and removing large amounts of brash and leaf litter from an expansive alpine rock garden which needed some TLC. It was very rewarding, and I uncovered these beautiful Irises which were hidden and needed to be set free. Spring is happening with Iris, Crocus and Snowdrops in profusion, massed ranks of daffodils awaiting the green light to show us their beauty and colour. Lots to do, lots happening but there is optimism for a big show and the maintenance we are doing is important for the health of the gardens which provide such pleasure to so many people.
Had to finish early in order to attend an emergency eye appointment, new prescription needed due to some deterioration but no sign of cataracts or glaucoma so that is positive news. 
Sad to hear the news of the Cumbria mountain rescue tragedy where a M. R. climber suffered 'life changing injuries' after a fall on Red Screes, trying to rescue two fools who had broken lockdown rules to go for a break in the mountains. Will they never learn. The mountain rescue teams risk everything in order to help people in trouble in the hills and deserve all the respect and support in the world. The fools who were the catalyst for this accident deserve no respect, and should at the very least be required to do some sort of community work to pay back for the trouble they have caused.
