A very alert robin
I watched out of the back door hoping that the goldfinch would return. I saw it perched near the top of the Evening Primrose stem which still had all its seed cases. They love to eat the seeds, but I fear there were none left at the end of a long winter.
Suddenly this robin alighted on the patio table close to the Evening Primrose stems. It preened and stretched and then took off. I only had time for this and then a blurred assemblage of feathers. The lump on the table is a deposit from some other bird, which I fear is a pigeon. They like to make their droppings everywhere. I can see why they are so unpopular in Trafalgar Square.
