Flowtest

This a watermeter I installed this afternoon, to identify a waterleak on Private Property. The little wheel in the middle is a leak indicator, this will show the slightest movement. The sweep hand is what I time and count, this indicates 1 revolution is 1 litre and I can record right down to 10mls. The red dials are what are referred to as insignificant numbers 1,10,100 and the black dials are significant representing Cubic Metres (1000 litres). The Black numbers or Cubic Metres are what are used for Billing. The flowtest was 4.5llpm ( litres per minute) 270 litres per hour and this is a grand total of 6,480 litres per day and if you had to pay for it that would cost the consumer $4.54 a day or $136.09 for 30 days or $1655.64 a year. This is why if you are charged for water keep an eye on your meter, because some billing companies will not notify you if you have a leak ( some leaks remain hidden). Please feel free to ask me what basic checks you can do.
