The rare Welsh magnolia

How fortunate that on St David's Day, I should stumble across the exceedingly rare Welsh magnolia in flower! I chanced upon a little alleyway I'd not seen before, down which there was this strange cottage with an idyllic garden in front, full of little-known traditional plants I'd only ever heard of, never seen. There was a self-raising flower, a ceiling rose, an oopsy daisy, a viola d'amore, lots of justin thyme, blue-chip stocks, and of course, this Welsh magnolia. The magnolia only flowers every seven years and only on St David's Day. To see it in all its glory, so the little-known legend tells, is to win hearts.
