what else could I blip?

I bought myself a big bunch of daffodils and a bundle of leeks this morning. I love St David's day almost as much - maybe more, even - than my birthday. It was always such a special day when we were little. Weeks and weeks of preparing for the school Eisteddford and then the day itself, with all its fun and competition. If I had my way, I'd dress up in national costume and sing Welsh songs and recite poetry all day and eat cawl and and and.....however, it's not really celebrated here, for some odd reason, so I have to make do with a pot of daffs & leeks and singing Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau at the children whilst crying because of the Hiraeth and then laugh at myself for being ridiculous because my rational brain tells me that national pride is divisive and stupid.

I was asked yesterday why Flea is called Flea (and I told her about the grasshopper legs, she was puzzled) well, it's quite a simple story. She was a very small person and her name could kind of be shortened to Floh (German for Flea) and so some big boys decided to pick on her and call her Floh. She wanted to play the bass and she loved the Chili Peppers, so we turned it round to something positive and started calling her "little Flea" and that took the wind out of the big boys' sails and she's been Flea ever since. And a fan of "big Flea" too, of course.
