Herring Gull #25/ Black Headed Gull #26
Lockdown 3.0 Day #42
Well, who would have thought we would have got into double figures temperature wise after the cold weekend that we've had? It was quite pleasant not to have multiple layers of thermals on during our walk at Spike Island today.
There was not as much about as has been in previous visits - no kingfisher, cormorant, egret, sandpiper or wagtails. Quite disappointing in the end, even though we left it until 11am to go out.
It is interesting to see the black headed gulls coming into breeding plumage and getting their black heads! They were all lined up on the railings with these two interlopers pushing their way into the group - I am fairly sure they are Herring Gulls - an adult at the rear and juvenile at the front - but am more than happy to be corrected.
