Midsteeple

This sign gives distances from the Midsteeple, Dumfries to various locations. Some are obviously capitals and large towns/cities at the time.

Portpatrick used to be the main ferry crossing from Scotland to Ireland and Huntingdon was one of the main cattle markets in Britain.

We obviously feel we are the centre of the universe, and who am I to dispute this ;-)
