Birds' Wedding Day

...is how my mother always described St Valentine's Day. In fact, the birds have been getting together since the beginning of the year. And here are two wood pigeons enhancing their bond. You can see what they got up to in the extra. That lasted less than ten seconds. All the rest was foreplay.

Suddenly, the snow was gone as the temperature rose. The pond has unfrozen although the bird bath still has a disc of ice.

Despite the rise in temperature, the day started and then continued 'dreich,' as the Scots would describe it. I finally had a shower and took some photos but I couldn't stir myself to go out for a walk, particularly after it started raining.

Len took Basil down to the brook at the bottom of the hill. Pork steaks for supper and then the last episode of The Serpent.
