Jay’s Journal

Ricky Jay was a highly skilled magician, as well as a collector of all things magic-related, who died in late 2018. If you have seen David Mamet’s film House of Games, or the TV show Deadwood, or any of a number of other filmed works he appeared him, you have seen him onscreen. But only in a live theater did the full power of his performances come across, and I will never forget the three or four times I was able to witness that.

He also published Jay’s Journal of Anomalies, an elegantly printed periodical about his collection, and I subscribed to all four volumes of it. At some point he  gave me this hand-printed poster announcing the Journal, and I have it hanging on the wall near my reading chair.
