Kinver Rock Houses

Working for part of the day, I had to visit the Kinver Rock Houses, operated by the National trust, after we received information it was opening at the weekends.

The current regulations only allow people to leave home for certain prescribed purposes.  One of these is exercise and there is an exemption allowing heritage sites to open their grounds as public open space for this purpose.  They can charge a fee for entrance.

As such the site was opened, but people are blocked from entering the houses, in this image by placing a wooden dryer across the entrance.  I am reserving judgement on whether it is appropriate to be open, but It does seem to be stretching the definition of public open space for exercise when you realise that the larger area that makes up Kinver Edge (also owned by the National trust, is open to the public free of charge and offers a much wider area to exercise (in one case a 5 mile trail), compared to the enclosed area around the rock houses that I walked from entrance to exit in just about 2 minutes.

I appreciate that the National Trust has suffered an incredible drop in income as a result of the pandemic, but watching the people that were visiting, they were hardly using the area for exercise!
