Snow - Day 7
I wonder what was making tracks in the snow on my lawn? I suspect the amorous pigeons who haven't been put off by the sub-zero temperatures during the vast majority of the day. A quiet day watching tennis this morning and chatting to a couple of my sisters this afternoon. The talk among family and friends is over who's had the jab / invite!
Day 334 / Day 39 of Lockdown 3 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 621 to 116,908 (revised basis), with 13,308 new cases, 23,341 patients in hospital, 2,943 on ventilation (1st time below 3k since 7/1) and 1,741 new admissions. c14.6m have now received their first dose of the vaccine. A new trial of the AZ / Oxford vaccine will look at its efficacy in youngsters, using 300 volunteers aged 6-17. More cases of the South African variant have been found in the UK (202 so far), with surge testing being introduced in the TS7 postcode in Middlesborough, the RG26 postcode in Hampshire and areas in Walsall. Heathrow Airport says 'significant gaps' remain in hotel quarantine plans being introduced on Monday. A member of the WHO team investigating the origin of the pandemic, has said China refused to hand over raw patient data from early cases and only gave a summary.
