Brrrr....

I went out to collect a bit of shopping after breakfast, and stopped in the Botanical Gardens on the way home.  The Chinese witch hazel (aka Hamamellis Mollis) will be finishing soon, and it's looking wonderful with its blaze of yellow and orange against snowy earth and bare branches (see extra).
But as I wandered round, I also found a tree with delicate, dark red blossoms  (main image). I forgot to read its name plate, not least because my fingers were freezing and beginning to hurt in the cold by then. I'll be back another day to see what it is.
