Hint of Spring
A hint of Spring on the kitchen window sill on a day when winter made itself felt. Overnight temperatures must have been very low!
We woke to a freezing cold flat - the boiler had turned itself off. It happens when a down-pipe outside freezes up and, luckily, the last time it occurred the plumber showed MrM what to do. He sorted out the problem, and it wasn't too long before we warmed up!
Mid-morning I went down to open the gate so that Lori, our lovely postwoman, could leave a parcel - only to discover that the lock mechanism was frozen solid. Easily solved with some hot water, and Lori delivered the parcel when she'd finished the rest of her round.
Then the washing machine (kept in a little 'room' downstairs)! Water in the pipes had frozen, despite the lagging and the 'frost buster' heater. They defrosted by mid-afternoon though, so the washing was done...
Roll on Spring!
