Ant hills

The lower pastures of Arnside Knott have hundreds of ant hills made by yellow meadow ants. 
They form micro climates and are very valuable for encouraging a variety of flowering plants and insects.

A chilly breeze for our walk this morning but the strong forecast easterly gales did not arrive.
