The Circle Game
I was working in the morning, but my afternoon commitment got cancelled - an opportunity for an afternoon walk to the ponds - they really feel like my own backyard - and since lockdown last March I have watched them through the seasons. Today, for the first time what I saw was circles, first, this snow circle on the ice, and an unfrosted circle - the hot spot - although that is a complete misnomer - with the ducks gathered around the edge in extras.
It made me think of this Joni Mitchell song I remember as a girl -
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We’re captives on a carousel of time
We can’t return, we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round, in the circle game
In my own little bubble in the here and now I feel so grateful to be able to take pleasure in simple things, nature and the seasons and the many and varied incredible forms they take.
Things will turn and turn again
Thanks to everyone visiting my journal and for your kind response to yesterday’s icicles and my earlier journals
