Baby it’s Cold Outside

I’m afraid the allure of the sun kissed snowy vista outside my windows failed to lure me out for a walk today save for a dash to get the paper first thing, but that hardly counts.
The cloudy, cold morning gave me the incentive to bake some scones, best eaten warm, and chat to a school friend.

After the sun came out I had a long phone call from a friend whom I haven’t seen since before any lockdown, and after that the appeal of joining the hordes on the Meadows faded and I felt the urge to do some cleaning. I emptied a small book case and moved it to vacuum up 10 years of dust behind it. It’s the kind of bookcase that is a haven not only for books but also for small items that annoyingly have no other resting place. The dust involved meant that it was time to wash the washable filter inside of the vacuum cleaner for the first time in its history.

Whereas most people had a rush of blood to their heads last April, I am a year behind the times.

With no outside blip in the can, this is the view of one of my windows ledges looking out to a stone cold maiden who has not a goosebump in sight despite her lack of clothes.
