An interesting and surprisingly good day today. We went on a fieldtrip to a landfill site...yes ok, we were all pretty sceptical about it, not expecting too much. BUT i was really surprised at how much went on and that they really aren't as disgusting and smelly as you think. Parts of it really made me think though, seeing the shear amount of waste we all produce per year etc, especially when at least half of the stuff going into landfill could be recycled. At this site they are working to filter household waste (not a pleasent job) to extract recyclables and sell them on for profit and to decrease the amount of rubbish going into landfill...i am definately going to take more care over recycling from now on!

This stunning bird was also at the landfill site. They are used to help get rid of the large amount of gulls and other pests which people complain about around landfill. They seemed very effective too! Also made my day as i adore birds of prey :) and some of my friends now appreciate why!
