Fieldfare

Not a rare bird, but I have never seen one in my garden before. I like the combination of brown and grey, like the dunnock.
It seems amazingly cold and icy to walk around here. I can't believe that ten years ago I drove from Nuremberg to London in -10°C, foolishly, for Christmas. From Nuremberg to Würzburg there was only one track on the motorway, the track left by other drivers in the ice and snow. After that it was sunny, but the afternoon sun ahead in the west made it  impossible to see clearly through the ice crystals on the window. No service stations had defroster left, and there were queues for warm water to wash the windscreen. Of course I did have winter tyres. It seems tough here now to drive five minutes except on the main roads.
