The lodge

Our lodge, a mill pond in local parlance, is very much iced over! Making beautiful contours between the iced and free water.  There is a certain geometry about the look of it , but it doesn’t follow any rational process as far as I can see.

Spotted this as we walked past today!  A good brisk, very cold walk after having the girls all day!  This afternoon 7 yo was given an exercise to look in the garden for: butterflies, ladybirds, worms, slugs, bees, etc.  We did find a number of wood lice under two stones and a little slug, but that’s all.  She had to do a bar chart with her results!  Ro volunteered a tube of smarties! We looked at the different colours and she produced a very respectable bar chart! 
Just one more day to the weekend and half term!
