Remedial

The physio last week had recommended a ‘remedial massage’ for today, which I attended. With the issue having reverted to how it felt originally, I asked the physio whether it was sensible to continue with the massage, which pummels and rubs rather than cranks and cracks. I was worried pummelling would aggravate the source of the pain, and that more fundamental work was needed. She advised to continue as planned, so off I popped to Shelly.

Shelly did all the right things I have no doubt, and the painful areas felt less tender by the end of the massage. However the evening was pretty rough as it felt like my chest and back muscles were reverberating from the pummelling, fighting against the urge to spasm. I suppose I’ve got to give it a while to calm down, as I can’t do any of the recommended exercises without emitting a sound like that of a dog whose paw has been trodden on by a heavyset oaf.

On the way to the physio place I appreciated this late afternoon sky, sun, cloud, building, shadow and lines vibe.

Someone today asked me whether I was ‘excited for Valentine’s Day.’ Is this a thing that people get excited about when they are single? The answer was a resounding no, obviously not. It’s possible my back pain has made me even more grouchy than usual.
