I think theres a new trend in town: huge logs piled in a driveway, parking strip, or right on the street - with no sign of a nearby tree stump, I can only guess the wood comes from somewhere else. Then, slowly it disappears. Is it part of a new physical fitness regimen? A lot of work goes into using a chain saw and wood splitter on pieces this big. I've seen at least three such piles right in the neighborhood. 
Speaking of big pieces of wood, we have gotten two estimates for removing or trimming our very old plum tree before it falls and does some big damage. Funny how both arborists are so willing to try to salvage it. See Extra. Our house on the left.
