old, but still upright

A bit like me.

I've discovered an unexpected compensation of being older - selective memory loss.   (And sometimes, not so selective).

This means we (Anniemay too, is a sufferer) can now go back and watch the early episodes of things like Vera and Inspector Montalbano  safe in the knowledge that we have no idea who did what or why.

It has a financial advantage as well.  I now have around 700 books on my kindle (fiction only) downloaded over the past 10 years or so.  I've stopped buying new ones and have gone back to the very first of them and started reading again.  It's like having my very own library.  Without the shelves and the dusting.
