Remains of a once great old pohutukawa
Back in the apartment of a friend while she and her partner are on holiday in the South Island. Walked to the unit (and back again after work); just over 30 minutes. The stump of a pohutukawa which is today’s blip is bound with cautionary official tape.
It appears that some of the multiple trunks had been sawn off low down some time age. Those on the right (looking at the picture) look much more recent. This is by the path which runs uphill from Stanley Street to Domain Drive in Pukekawa (the Auckland Domain). I had paid little attention to the stump when I passed it last week, and today it appealed as an appropriate subject for a photo.
