Calm but cloudy
Yesterday's storm threw up a lot of seaweed on the beach, but at least the wind has died down and the the sea is calm again.
Lots of beach-walkers about, but the windsurfers have stayed away in droves, and been replaced by several groups of stand-up paddle-boarders. (A stand of paddle-boarders, maybe?)
Dark cloudy skies at the height of Summer are still a bit unusual for these parts, but a very welcome alternative to clear blue skies and stifling dry heat. And the extra humidity helps prevent bushfires breaking out amongst tinder-dry undergrowth, which is very reassuring. In the end, I guess we've all got to adapt to the vagaries of climate change.
The lack of wind and mild temperatures combined to make this morning's bike-ride along the esplanade that much more rewarding, and the coffee at the beachside cafe that much more enjoyable. The double-egg toasted sandwich (done to yolk-dripping perfection) didn't hurt, either.
That's adaptation for you.
