If you can't beat them...

Working.

The kitchen at the Lodge needs some TLC and now isn't the time for replacement or even new doors.  SO the decision was made to strip the vinyl coating off and go for the modern look of painting them to match the splashback tiles.

The first job was to get the vinyl off.   So I assembled the tools I thought I would need, as it happened I didn't need the scraper.  The heat gun on its lowest setting and the gloves to handle the hot sheets made short work of the job.  I am told (by youtube) it can be done with a hairdryer, we didn't need to try that as "The Mate"  has loaned us all the tools we need.  In about an hour we had stripped 16 panels of various sizes.

The next job is sanding the surfaces ready for priming.   We have started that, thanks again the "The Mate" and the loan of an orbital sander with dust extractor.  This is a slower job partly owing to the pads clogging with glue fairly quickly.
