Snow - Day 2

It started snowing last night alongside the gales and first thing this morning there was about 2 inches on the paths I cleared. It started snowing again at lunchtime and hasn't stopped, when I checked the snow on the lawn just now, there was 5 inches of it. The forecast is for non-stop snow until Thurs unfortunately. So great to be able to watch the Australian Open this morning, once I'd set up access to Eurosport via Amazon Prime. A real treat.

Day 329 / Day 34 of Lockdown 3 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 333 to 112,798 (revised basis), with 14,104 new cases, 29,326 patients in hospital, 3,505 on ventilation and 2,107 new admissions. c12.3m have now received their first dose of the vaccine. Over 70s not yet vaccinated are urged to book an appointment with the NHS online or by calling 119 free of charge. 91% of over 80's have had their first jab, 95% of 75-79s, and 93% of residents at eligible adult care homes. 147 cases of the South African variant have been confirmed so far. The South African govt has stopped the rollout to healthcare workers of the AZ vaccine given news that it's less effective on their very dominant variant and they will use another vaccine on this critical group. Scientists are considering how best to use their AZ vaccines. JVT said the SA variant is less transmissible that our variant, therefore the SA variant is unlikely to become dominant in the UK in the next few months. A booster in the Autumn may be required for this variant. There is growing concern over the impact of coronavirus in getting urgent dental treatment in the UK, let alone regular check-ups.
