A hectic day but a moment of calm this morning as I walked in from Durrus village, having dropped my car off at the garage to get its boot locking mechansim sorted - it had been pinging open at unexpected moments or refusing to open at all. Anyway, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and all was peaceful. This is the view upriver from here - this bridge (actually two-arched) is the older one, reputedly about 400 years old, and behind that are the stepping stones, so this has been a strategic crossing point for centuries.

The Ladies' Book Club proved to be fairly explosive - one lady has resigned and I have to say I have sympathies. There were 12 of us last night, a pretty tight squeeze to fit into a sitting room, half had not read the book, yet the same half tend to talk non-stop, frequently all at once, and don't listen A tricky situation. Isabelle Allende's Portrait in Sepia was the chosen read for this month.
