Seeing Double
What's better than one bright red cardinal on a snowy day? Two bright red cardinals on a snowy day!
I had some photos today that were technically better than this one, but this is my pick. This has definitely been a winter for cardinals in our garden with the high count at 12. The males are tolerant of one another now; once spring gets nearer, they will become much more territorial and lots of chasing and sing-offs will ensue.
The day started snowy and continued much of the day but I think we ended up getting only about 3 inches. Relative to the huge storm earlier in the week, this barely rises to the level of "nuisance". It was just enough to keep the feeders very busy all day, which resulted in quite a few photos.
Had a nice long chat with my parents this morning. Tomorrow the State of Oregon will open their portal for vaccine appointments for the "over 80" population. We all expect it will be a mess with people trying desperately to get an appointment. And, of course, like every other state, Oregon doesn't have enough supply of vaccine to meet demand. That said, we are going to be operating "Vaccine Central" here at our house by trying to secure appointments for my parents while they try on their end. Dad plans to have two laptops up and running while mom will try to get through on the 211 help line. Keep your fingers crossed.
Planning to watch the Super Bowl tonight and rooting for Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I'd like to see Brady add one more Super Bowl Ring to his collection. That said, the Kansas City Chiefs are favored to win. We'll see.
Stay safe, be kind...and you know the rest...
