Woodland colour
There is not much colour in nature at this time of year, so the bright red of this small fungus readily caught the eye. I believe it is a Scarlet Elfcup, which is seen in winter or early spring, growing on rotting twigs of broadleaves. They are often solitary and measure about 1 cm across.
