Hallelujah!
After three years, we finally appear to have a working back up solar battery system which will automatically switch on when the power goes out even if we turn the water on! We thought we were going to need a new pump but they were able to install a ‘soft start’ for the pump we have without having to pull the old pump and replace it. I’m almost afraid to believe it because we’ve had so many false starts and dead ends. We also saved a lot of money which is certainly a good thing. Once you commit to paying for something it seems like free money when you don’t have to!
We bought two new chairs for our living room. They haven’t arrived yet but our neighbors, Patrick and Ramon who own the store where we bought them said they’ll deliver them as soon as they arrive.
Such is design of our house that we can’t add anything new without getting rid of something and we had just such a dilemma with the old chair. Fortunately our friend Caroline, who lost her house in the Glass fire introduced us to her (former) neighbors who also lost theirs. She said they were sitting on lawn chairs so we gave them our chair, (which John announced rather belatedly he hated )
They were very nice people who are struggling with all the issues that people who have lost their homes struggle with....insurance and promises that aren’t kept, and that is only the beginning....I was glad we were able to help . We apologized for not having two chairs and told them not to fight over who got to sit in the chair.
Even though we came very close to it ourselves, I still can’t imagine what it must be like to lose everything. I got a nice letter from the Timber Cove Fire Department (the engine company that reportedly saved our house) assuring me that they would put my donation to good use! Thanks to them I won’t have to try!
