Stratton Lodge

Today’s local history lesson brings us to ‘the Stratton’ which was the local pub in Culloden when I was young. It is now a shell, having burned down  in 2013
Duncan Forbes was a well known figure regarding the famous battle, and the family owned Culloden House - his grandson Arthur married Sarah Stratton, an heiress from Kent & this Lodge was built for her in 1779. She had 2 children, but sadly died at age 36. The building is cat B listed, no idea what will be done with it
