What a mess! / Was für ein Schlamassel!
These Litfaßsäule (advertising pillars) were invented here in Eastern Germany, and are a welcome and familiar sight around Greifswald.
Sadly they are a little scrappy just now, with all events cancelled. What a sad, unfortunate situation - as Germans say, „Was für ein Schlamassel!“.
Happily, several are being put to good use to display this interesting range of posters, celebrating German words with Yiddish roots.
