Looking Up

We actually saw some sun and blue sky today and it didn't rain all day (even though the uniform grey cloud cover is back by now).
After grocery shopping for my mother, I went to her house. We had lunch together and even sat outside on the terrace for a while. 

On my way back to town, I stopped in the forest for the walk I had promised myself. It felt great to be out and about. And then I heard the unmistakable, trumpeting call of migrating cranes!

As I was in the middle of the forest, I couldn't see them. When I finally got a glimpse of a small flock (perhaps 20 birds, flying northeastwards in V formation), I wasn't quick enough to get them on a photo. 

Nevertheless, it was a lovely sign of spring to come and made me very happy.
