Wistful moments

Pike O' Blisco

Last night i dined on prawn cocktail and fillet of salon washed down with a couple of large glasses of wine, and it was every good as the meal the night before. Another good night's sleep ensued and i woke again to brilliant sunshine and clear blue skies. Rather than rush home i decided to tackle a mountain, albeit a modest one, in Pike O' Blisco (2304 feet) . I parked up at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel and then followed the road a short way before taking "the well marked path" on the right to the summit. Only one problem though....the well marked path wasn't quite so well marked at about 2000 feet where the snow lay quite thickly and packed down into ice. I could see the summit but common sense prevailed. I figured being on my own if i slipped and injured myself with no-one else around and no mobile phone signal then i'd be buggered! I have to say though that i in no way did i feel cheated. I had an amazing walk with the most stunning views of Bowfell and Crinkle Crags, and i stood i awe at many points whilst catching my breath!! I treated myself on return to the car with a bitter shandy and bag of crisps before reluctantly heading back to Brum. What an incredible 2 days. I've loved the whole experience and i'll definitely do it again. I'll try and put some pics in my blipfolio tomorrow. :-))
