Glasgow Science Centre

Glasgow Science Centre on the River Clyde was the result of a competition and Millennium Commission funding.

The two striking buildings, Science Centre and Imax Cinema were designed by Building Design Partnership and opened to the public in 2001. You can also see the new BBC Scotland Headquarters, between the two buildings. If you go large you can also see the Park Circus Towers on the left.

Situated on the site of the 1988 Garden Festival, Glasgow's £75 million Science Centre features Scotland's first IMAX cinema with an 80 by 60ft screen, as well as state-of-the-art facilities for youngsters to learn about science and technology through fun exhibits, science shows, workshops and talks.

The buildings are wrapped in cutting-edge materials including titanium and aluminium, and form a single entity thanks to features such as a linking teflon fabric roof and a 'discovery' tunnel.
