Where Did I leave Them

One of those afternoons with the sun dipping in and out of the clouds, so timing was crucial. I would set the exposure and trip the shutter on a timer, only for the light to disappear. Then second guess myself and the next instant, the highlights would blow out. After half a dozen goes, I eventually got something close.

I liked the raking light giving texture and form to the snow and fallen willow. Deep snow covering seems to produce rounded shapes and I was taken by the squirrel tracks leading into the frame, searching for a hidden morsel. The snow is probably about a foot in depth now, not exactly Rockies deep, but enough to make walking difficult.

I tried to keep the intensity of the snow without losing detail. In places there was a definite cyan tint, which I corrected.
