Brief encounter

I had the company of an otter for 10 minutes this afternoon. I'd heard mention of an otter back in the summer but it's the first time I've seen it. It seemed as interested in me as I was in it, swimming about 10 ft from the bank yet always keeping its eyes on me. Then it dived and came up quite close and snuffled at me. I think it was asking me to take its picture and seeing as it had framed itself with some reed stalks I had to oblige.
