The Watcher

Last week I'd spotted this spooky, naturally formed feature high on the trunk of an oak in the grounds of County Hall. It reminds me of some ethereal tree creature, owl-like in its features, seemingly watching those that pass by - guarding the tree perhaps ....
It looks even spookier if seen LARGER.

What a glorious day today - the sky was pretty clear and there was sun nearly all day. There was a chilly breeze, but in sheltered areas it felt almost spring-like - yay! As I left work tonight I just managed to take a few shots of one of County Hall's trees, silhouetted against the by then barely visible sunset.
