Bright visitor.

Lovely scenes this morning unless you had to be somewhere. My son heading to Leicester didn’t get beyond the village Post Office!

The trees were heavily laden with snow but thankfully the birds could still access the feeders. A wood pigeon tried to get on one of them knocking it to the floor, a bonus for the Blackbirds - extra.

Whilst singing on Zoom with the ATN choir (good song selection today) I spotted this lovely Bullfinch. It’s been a while since we had one in the garden so I decided to make him my blip for today. Chris had retrieved the fallen feeder and put some seed on the ground which the Bullfinch was soon enjoying. Good to see the Blackbird trying out the suet blocks too.

First thing I took a few snaps of another bird on the suet block and in the tree. I can’t identify it. It’s markings on its wings are a bit like a Siskin though no green and it also had a speckled front.

Last night thanks to other blippers we watched ‘The Dig’. I’d seen a trailer for it somewhere but hadn’t realised it was available on Netflix. We saw the rebuilt Sutton Hoo helmet in the British museum just over a year ago, the finding of it and the other Anglo Saxon artefacts was very interesting and it’s good to know that those people who were initially responsible for the dig in the Suffolk countryside are now properly credited for the finds wherever they are displayed.

The heavy snow started dropping off the trees and dripping off the roof very soon after the snow stopped falling and then rain set in so it’s no longer a winter wonderland out there just damp and murky.
