Hmmm, very interesting......

It's been a busy old day.  After a slow start following a disturbed night, I blame the glass of wine and the  tipping point in the latest Stuart McBride when all would be revealed, things moved on apace.  An e-mail arrived from the Council to say the garden bins would be collected tomorrow so that was a good excuse to get out in the sunshine and clear some dead stuff away.  Like all good Countryfile/Winterwatch viewers, I left plenty for the over-wintering things to stay warm and safe.  I cleaned the seed tray, brushed up the remaining fallen leaves from the place where they always collect and reorganised the birdfood containers to try in vain to keep out the resident mouse.

It's sod's law that returning to my regular runs has also meant a return to achy knees so I opted for a solo wander on the moor this afternoon instead.  You have to make the most of these sunny days, especially when the weatherperson says that February is going to be wet.  I only passed one set of dog walkers and saw a distant mountain biker which contrasts with the procession of folks heading towards the moor past our front window over the weekend as I sat working on the Club newsletter.  Thankfully, I put the newsletter to bed before I went to bed and before it turned into February, which would have meant making several changes to things.

So my very interesting blip today (not) is for the Square Metre Challenge.  At the end of Autumn I brutally cut back my wildflower meadow in the hope that some of the pretty things which came up in its first year might reappear.  Tony also planted some yellow rattle seeds to suppress the grass which came back.  The meadow has been looking pretty sorry for itself since then, so this challenge will make me look at one small section of it to see if anything grows this month.
