Part Of Thompson Square Precinct, Windsor.
This section mainly contains restaurants and fast food outlets, it is popular and always busy after hours and on weekends.
On the extreme right hand side of the picture is the corner of the Macquarie Arms Hotel built at the direction of Gov. Lachlan Macquarie in 1812.
The square, previously known as Bell Post Square was renamed Thompson Square by Macquarie in 1811 in honor of Andrew Thompson, a convict who made good and was eventually made magistrate.
Thompson died in 1810 from a lung complaint contracted after he spent 3 days and nights in the water carrying out rescues in the 1806 and 1809 floods.
