Kestrel

I was delighted to spot a raptor hovering above the path to the Drift. None of the other walkers who were about seemed to notice, even though it was hovering at a relatively low altitude. 

At first I thought it was a buzzard as a pair were regularly seen over this area last year and I've only ever kestrels on the other side of the village. It's just as well I checked before uploading! 

I think it's a male kestrel but it seemed to be a relatively large bird and I'm not wholly convinced that it has the grey plumage on its head.
