Standing out from the Crowd
Some people have to go out to walk their dog or entertain small children. I have neither dog nor small children and have to force myself out to get a blip when it’s freezing cold and my instinct is to recall Sunday as being the day of rest and look at the world going by from the comfort of my settee. There are just so many photos one can take of chopped up vegetables or another farmhouse loaf straight out of the oven before boring oneself stupid.
It’s hard to find somewhere to walk these days where there is not a crush of Edinburghers out taking the air. I have a suspicion that not everyone amongst the pedestrians lives in the city so wide eyed are they as they meander along taking in the sights of the city centre.
This colourful couple in Victoria Street were very friendly but I did detect a Glasgow accent and wondered if they were newly weds or she was a model. She certainly wasn’t dressed in the dour, camouflaged apparel of the winter Edinburgher but rather like one of an exotic species from somewhere beyond these shores........that rather rules out Glasgow. I would have loved it had they decided to pose further down the street outside one of the pink buildings, but there again, beggars can’t be choosers and she did made my walk in the Baltic conditions worthwhile.
